When these clients purchased a new home, they turned to LRD to help them furnish and style their new spaces. They wanted a brighter color palette than they had in their last home, and with four teenage boys, we knew we had to prioritize durable materials and functional pieces.
We started in the family room and let the fabric and art be what I refer to as the “jumping off point.” We chose these lovely blue and purple tones and prioritized performance fabrics where we could. We selected a lacquered coffee table that is equally as chic as it is practical. Go ahead… put your feet up! We also added dimension and depth to the built-ins by installing grasscloth to the back and filled the shelves with streamlined yet interesting decor.
In the kitchen/breakfast room, we added large scale art by one of my favorite artists, which serves as the perfect backdrop to this combined living space.
The dining room called for a colorful Oushak rug and beautiful trim on the curtains left behind by the prior owners (no, you don’t always have to re-invent the wheel). The study was lacquered in a beautiful neutral blue, creating the perfect “work from home” space.
And the master bedroom? Well, we carried the same bright color scheme here too, solidly earning this home the nickname “color me happy.” I know every time I see it, it certainly brings a smile to my face!
