When these homeowners purchased a new home in the Northwood Hills area of Dallas, Texas, they knew the potential it had. The home had beautiful bones but a kitchen layout that was less than ideal (think small, dark, dated and choppy). They hired an architect to expand the footprint of the home and turned to LRD to help cast vision and execute the finish out and furnishings for their remodel.
In their initial inquiry, the wife told us that she wanted a home that was feminine, “beachy” and chic, and that her sweet husband was “totally comfortable with the color pink.” We got to work scheming up a beautiful palette of turquoise, pink with pops of a rich orange to keep it from being too cliché — we sought to draw inspiration from the colors of the beach while maintaining an element of unexpected elegance.
In the kitchen, we used a combination of high and mid range custom products fully embracing the mix. We concentrated the budget on a few high-end elements (the gorgeous La Cornue range, custom hood and custom island pendants) to elevate the entire space, while landing on more budget-friendly bar stools, plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. The magic is always in the mix — you don’t have to over-spend to achieve a high-end look!
We carried the same pattern found on the island pendants into the wallpaper of the pool bath located off the kitchen, added complimentary trim to the existing sconce shades and painted the cabinetry a saturated blue.
And in the family room that opens to the kitchen, we grounded the room with a colorful Oushak rug and beautiful textiles, leaving our clients with exactly what they wanted — a sophisticated, coastal-inspired home right in the heart of Dallas, Texas.
