A Home with Beautiful Bones — and a New Vision
When our clients purchased their home in Northwood Hills, they immediately saw its potential. The structure had wonderful architectural bones, but the kitchen felt small, dark, and fragmented, with a layout that didn’t suit modern living.
Working alongside their architect, the footprint was expanded to create a more open, functional flow. From there, we partnered with the homeowners to shape the design vision — guiding the finish selections, detailing, and furnishings to transform the house into something both elevated and deeply personal.
A Coastal-Inspired Palette with Unexpected Sophistication
Early in the process, our client described her dream home as feminine, chic, and subtly “beachy.” She also mentioned — with a smile — that her husband was fully on board with pink.
That conversation sparked a palette rooted in soft coastal tones: turquoise and blush layered with moments of rich orange to add depth and prevent the scheme from feeling overly sweet or predictable. The result is a color story that feels fresh and light, while still refined and timeless.
The Kitchen: High-Impact Design Through Thoughtful Mixing
In the kitchen, we embraced one of our core design philosophies: the magic is in the mix. Rather than allocating the budget evenly, we invested in a few standout elements that would anchor the entire space — including a stunning La Cornue range, a custom hood, and bespoke island pendants.
To balance those statement pieces, we selected more approachable options for bar stools, plumbing fixtures, and cabinet hardware. This layered approach allowed us to achieve a truly high-end result without unnecessary overspending — proof that intentional choices matter more than price tags alone.
Creating Continuity Through Pattern and Color
Design cohesion was key throughout the home. We echoed the pattern from the island pendants in the wallpaper of the nearby pool bath, creating a subtle visual connection between spaces.
In that bath, we also enhanced the existing sconces with complementary trim and painted the cabinetry a saturated blue — a bold but harmonious note that ties back to the overall palette while giving the room its own personality.
A Family Room That Grounds the Home
In the adjoining family room, warmth and texture take center stage. A colorful Oushak rug anchors the seating area, while layered textiles reinforce the palette and soften the space.
The finished result is a home that feels polished yet welcoming — a sophisticated interpretation of coastal inspiration, thoughtfully tailored to life in Dallas.
